This Big Lottery funded project aims to increase social engagement and improve mental and physical health in the local community. The project aims to achieve this by working in partnership with the local community to identify and develop peer led activities.
A local steering group was set up through which it was identified that there was a lack of social activity in the evenings and a lack of access to groups or activities which promote relaxation.
As a result of the findings of the steering group the project has started delivering Auricular (Ear) Acupuncture in the local community.
The 'Breaking Bread' group has been established which involves local people coming together to cook together and socialise one evening a week.
A local peer support group has also been set up focusing on family related issues. The group receives Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT), in order to improve relationships and communication within the family.
Living Life to the Full training is offered as 8 sessions over 4 weeks, for help with low mood, confidence/self esteem, and breaking cycles of negative thinking.
